The main sessions will be held at Uji Ohbaku Plaza on Kyoto University's Uji campus (http://www.uji.kyoto-u.ac.jp/english/index.html).
Uji is the city associated with the Tale of Genji. It is located in the southern part of Kyoto prefecture and surrounded by beautiful landscape. In its center flows the Uji River with more than a thousand years of history.
Historical sites are abundant, including the famous Byodo-In and the Ujigami-jinja shrine, both of which are registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites as a part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto". Other tourist destinations in Uji city include the Mimurodoji temple, which is known as one of the temples of hydrangeas and the Ohbakusan Manpukuji temple.
Furthermore, the close proximity of Uji campus to central Kyoto provides immediate access via trains (either JR Nara or Keihan Uji line) and you can enjoy early summer in Kyoto after the symposium sessions.
